Carmen Schultz began her acrobatic training with 13 years of competitive gymnastics in Colorado. She began performing circus in 2004 with tumbling, hand balancing, and partner acrobatics. Carmen has 9 years of experience teaching a broad spectrum of acrobatics and 10 years of performing and producing circus shows with Fractal Tribe, Borrillo Entertainment, and several other event companies across Colorado. Carmen worked with two partners to found and operate a circus training program based in Denver, called Academy of Circus Elements. Later, she earned a two-year degree in Sports Massage Therapy from the Colorado School of Healing Arts. Carmen began practicing Sports Massage Therapy, working with a wide range of athletes. This has provided her with a deeper understanding of anatomy, good training practice, and acrobatic movement. Most recently, she worked as the Department Manager for both the Acrobatics and Specialty Skills programs at the School of Acrobatic and New Circus Arts (SANCA) in Seattle, WA. Now she is joining the Circus Maine team as Program Director.
